Cody is about a two-hour drive from Sacramento, east on U.S. Highway 50. Once you pass Kyburz, start watching the mile markers on the right-hand shoulder of the highway. Turn right (south) at the Forty-Two Mile Picnic ground. (Watch for the U.S. Forest Service's yellow and brown sign. If you reach Strawberry Lodge, you've missed the turn by about a quarter mile.) Cross the bridge and follow a narrow paved road for about seven miles, watching for the Camp Cody signs. A final left turn takes you on a dirt road to the Cody Lake trailhead. Park here. From this trailhead, it is a half-mile hike down to the lake and Camp Cody.
